What's The "Real" Portland Area?

Traveling to Oregon? Is it more than looking at the Portlandia statue while eating Voodoo Donuts?

Take a drive down some country roads around Clackamas County and see some Christmas tree farms

My favorite place to take tourists is The Grotto - you don’t have to be Catholic to enjoy the view and the beauty

Avoid the busy trendy places you read about and get away from the center of town to tour some “dive bars”!

Here’s one I discovered last year, The Rock House Tavern - just down from a fancy restaurant - cheap tacos, friendly locals, and in the middle of a scenic area next to the Clackamas River

Remember, if you read about it in Portland area tourist magazines and web pages, chances are you will have to suffer with long lines, busy and loud venues, snobby and privileged servers with attitudes, and limited parking

Get on google maps and find places that don’t have hundreds of reviews, get out to the “burbs” and have an adventure!
