There are many reason why I turn myself into a local guide couple of years ago. The idea of having a social impact contributing on Google Maps, organizing my thoughts on google lists, review restaurants and places to freely express my opinion… This and many other reasons are already more than enough to make me enjoying be a local guide but if there is an icing on the cake this would be surely the sense of community and the chance to meet other people, other local guides ?
I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil, since 2017 and I work as a tour guide, attending tourists from all over the world. Even if my life is blessed because I’ve the chance to work outdoor and meet everyday people from all over the world, sometimes not having an office, work colleagues and living in a foreign country makes you feel lonely.
So the last year I got selected for connect 2019 and this was one of the best things could happen to me ? I met incredible people, some of theme from my current city and even someone from my original home town which is Pompeii, in Naples.
It is so cool to feel like I have a tons of new friends now and this is actually true! I keep messaging, personally meeting and talk to many of them and every time is incredible cool to share our news about Google Maps and life in general.
Also, there are many local guides I’m not in touch any more but we shared beautiful ideas and had deep and interesting conversations and the Connect 2019. Hope to meet all this people again ?
So yes, if I’ve to say what is the most interesting thing that I’ve done as a Local Guide for sure was meeting other Local Guides ?
