Hai !, Anyone please guide me whats photo tag and and how to get points with photo tags. ?
Hello @vishnupranay ! When you add pictures on Maps, let’s say photos of a venue for instance, you will be asked to tag each of them with a short description (usually one\two words). By doing so you’ll earn 3 extra points. Yay! :)) For more info about photos and tagging, I’ve found this post by @gowthamselvam very useful and I think it might help you too. Have a nice day!
Hello @vishnupranay ,
Thank you for reaching out. Please, find the answer to your question in the above comment by @gidibi .
PS: I am going to move your post to the section How-Tos on Connect, the place where Local Guides ask questions.
Hi @gidibi
Thank you referring my post as a solution to @vishnupranay I hope it was useful to you.
Thanks again .
Hello @gowthamselvam ! It was very useful indeed, thank you
@BorrisS Is this feature (and opportunity to earn 3 points) only available for Android users as I am unfamiliar with this functionality and am an avid Apple user? @vishnupranay @gowthamselvam @gidibi
Hello @CatC ,
Thank you for reaching out, you can read about the existing options on the following link. Stay tuned for more upcoming functionalities.
Meanwhile, you can always use the Idea Exchange section on Connect in order to suggest an idea about a functionality on an Apple phone.
Thank you so much @BorrisS for your reply and suggestion! Last I knew, we are still waiting on the latest Maps version to become available on the iOS platform — has that changed? If that has not changed are you aware of an anticipated timeline for that release otherwise I will “plant the seed” via the Exchange?
Not to “beat a dead horse” but until the release of the latest Maps for iOS, are those utilizing that platform unable to collect points for photo tagging?
Let me add my experience too in this thread, i figured out, that Google provide those 3 extra tag points, only if you add those tags/captions to you photos, only when we add them first, though after going through this tutorial i noticed that android app do allow us to add these tags/captions even post publishing. Where as Desktop and iOS (Which i mostly use to adding pictures) versions of maps doesn’t allow to add caption once we have published our pictures. After finding this, I tried doing a drill by adding captions to some of my already published published pictures, seeing if it will affect my score or not, i added some, using Android app, but, though those later added tag/captions started to appear on maps, but it didn’t affect my score at all, where as all other actions/activities accomplished from Android app, do tell you about the point scored against it… but this doesn’t…
What is photo tag option can you explain plz @user_not_found
Hi @Saddam_1 ,
Adding a photo tag and/or a dish name is actually the same feature. All this was well described in gidibi’s solution reply in this thread which is why I moved your comment in this particular topic.
@KlaudiyaG thank for your reply.
Know I am familiar with photo tag features.
Hi all,
when I check the “how to learn points” list, I see an option to earn 3 points by tagging a photo.
I am struggling to figure this out.
Is there any reference to how to do that?
Thanks in advance for your reply
I don’t know why @vishnupranay 's post was marked as the solution to this request.
I don’t know either if I am dumb and I don’t understand such an easy task.
The only options I have to upload photos are:
- when I’m in the “place” detail card and click on “add a photo”. In this case, the process will automatically upload my pictures without providing any place to add tags
- when I write a review and then I upload photos to my review. Here as well, there’s no place where to add tags
Can someone point me to the right button/link where to activate this tag feature?
Best
I think this clarifies my request. The tag feature is only available to Android users. What a bad and unfair UX!
@Dopamino unfortunately tagging option is available for only android users. You are using desktop version that’s why you are not able to tag photos.
@NareshDarji all clear, thanks
I’m with you! Does it mean if you’re using an Apple you don’t get three points for a photo tag?
sorry but I’m so confused?
Has this been sorted out yet as I’m an iOS user and I’m always contributing to Google Maps?
i’d hate to think that everything I’m contributing isn’t getting the same points as those using android. Can anybody help you at all please?‍
