Hello dear Local Guide community!
My name is Jeremiah Ramsey, and I live in Bellingham in Whatcom County of Washington State in the Pacific Northwest. Bellingham and the surrounding area is a hidden gem in the world. We have mountains and ocean, forests and farmland, and awesome communities.
Quickly, my background: I was born a dual citizen of the USA and Germany, was raised in Yokohama, Japan, have also lived in Germany, in Tennessee, and in the Seattle area. I’ve had the privilege of visiting well over 30 countries of the world. And Whatcom County is my favorite place to live - because of the people, the culture, and the nature.
Take the Ski to Sea tournament for example; it’s a relay race that starts at our famous Mount Baker (boasting one of the heaviest snow falls in the world) with skiing and biking, running, canoeing, and kayaking - a community event that brings businesses, families, and individuals together.
Or Sudden Valley, the largest home owners association in the State of Washington with 7000 inhabitants, larger than many incorporated cities. Sudden Valley is a community of families, retirees, and vacationers nestled between Lookout Mountain (a mountain bikers heaven) and deep Lake Whatcom (great for kayaking and jet skiing). And you get five varieties of wild berries growing around the trails: salmonberries, thimbleberries, red huckleberries, local blackberries, and Himalayan blackberries.
And look at our farmland: Whatcom County produces more red raspberries than almost any other place in the country. We have our own local dairies with popular milk (Twin Brook Creamery) and ice cream (Edaleen Dairy).
In short, I love Bellingham, and we’d love to have you come for a visit.
Have you been to Bellingham? Or do you also live here? Any questions? Add your comments!
