I recently traveled through Los Angeles International Airport and took photos and videos in my terminal. One cannot upload pictures by clicking the “Add Photos” link. I was able to upload my photos using my iPhone Camera Roll. However, I cannot upload the videos.
My question: Can businesses/governments request Google Maps to limit the ability to upload photos/videos to a listing? The only other time I saw this happen was for a shopping mall in Memphis, Tennessee (still can’t upload photos via app or desktop).
Hello @PaulKang
I also encountered some kind of bug - it is not always possible to view through the main tab “add photo”. In this case, I do the following:
I open the “folders” tab. Looking for a photo in the folders “camera” (you can call it differently).
If the description above did not work, then I once again look at the presence of a photo through the phone’s gallery, and memorize the date of the shooting. Then I check again on item 1.
If it is not possible to find through Google Map, even focusing on dates; then I create a copy of the photo (or slightly change it, for example, by trimming the edge - and create it as a new one), and once again I go to Google Map.
Sorry. I carefully read your post again - I did not come across such a question. I have not downloaded the video before (for me it does not make sense).
But in recent months there have been a lot of comments on this forum about the refusal of a number of functions. Perhaps this is somehow connected.
Good luck.
@smyx1212 , my point was to ask why/how no new videos can be uploaded to the LA airport map listing and others. If it’s a new feature to prevent photos/videos, I’d like to know about it since I manage many listings myself.
This feature is a named polygon. Google does not want photos uploaded to polygons, only to point features.
You will find that the components of the airport, such as each store or each terminal, are where you can upload photos. These then become more relevant to the portion of the airport that someone else might be visiting.
Please note that there are certain items in Google Maps that you cannot edit and these include landmarks, polygon objects, established points-of-interests or even the names of a city/township. Only Google can edit these although you can always send feedback and suggest your changes through Google maps. To send feedback you can follow these steps below:
Find the location in question on the map
Click the hamburger icon ☰;
Click Send feedback and Choose your relevant feedback
Click Submit
If you come across a named polygon that won’t let you enter any of the other information and that feature is one that has the option to be represented as a point feature, please:
Create a point POI and add all the existing information to it along with the new information you wish to add.
This should be detected as a possible duplicate and be flagged for manual review. The reviewer should see what’s occurring and fix it (to approve your feature and edit the polygon).
In the rare case where you manage to create a point POI even though a duplicate already exists in the form of a polygon, please then flag your creation as a duplicate to get a reviewer involved to fix the polygon for you.
For more detailed information about the polygons, please read this post. It contains a very good explanation from @Flash (Flash, thanks for the detailed explanation and for helping out
