What to do about a place that's been permanently closed for 3 years not responding to map edits?

So there’s a tourist attraction in town that’s been closed since 2015 that’s still on the map. The loss of lease with its landlord and closure was well-publicized.

I see multiple reviews for the place since then saying they saw the place on Google Maps and planned a trip only to find an empty building. Other reviews say they’ve reported it as closed with no results.

I’m assuming the owner has veto power over edits through Google My Business and is keeping it open. They’ve moved their attraction to another state and keeping the old site alive on the map would draw clicks to their website which points you to their new location. I’m assuming this is what’s happening, but I don’t know.

Is there any way to escalate reports of bad map data if suggested edits aren’t working?

This report should be sent to Google My business @RotBot , for them to take care of it

Wow. The proprietor must be knowledgeable about Google maps’ marketing potential. I hope the moderators help here?
