My name is Nicholas Omondi, pro active local guide and Connect Live 2018 alumni. During the summit, I learnt a lot from other local guides and vice versa.
After the summit, I realized engagement between maps users and businesses was low.
I’ve been engagement individual maps users and businesses on how to use and results are amazing. I’ve taught people in my home town how to make maps a better place by making quality contributions to maps like adding photos, writing reviews, asking questions, adding missing info et al.
For businesses, I’ve approached the owners and taken them through the process of claiming ownership of businesses through which they can engage potential clients. Notable businesses in my home town are now claimed which has built confidence between map users and the businesses.
One key thing I’ve noted is Maps has an upper hand compared to other social media because it comes top in search results making it the de facto place to get reliable contacts for any business. How do you make maps great in your home town? Please share with me and other Local Guides in the comments section.
Sometimes the process of sharing knowledge with individual maps users and businesses may not earn one points but it’s always a wondeful experience. My mission remains making Maps a better place for everyone.
