As I’m applying to attend the Connect 2020 Summit, sitting in my house due to the request to social distance, I come to the question, ‘What does the local guide program mean to me?’ After thinking long and hard about this topic I came to a fairly simple answer: connection, communication, and fulfillment.
Through local guides I’ve been able to connect with with people that I never thought I would. Using maps and reviewing places as a Local Guide I can connect with anyone who visits my area and the places that I visit too! After attending Connect 2019 I was able to broaden my connection throughout the world and have many local guides I consider friends all over!
Being a local guide is also all about communication! Leaving thorough reviews on local businesses causes me to give the best information to others who are looking into that business too. Not only can I communicate through my reviews but I also am constantly communicating with other guides through social media to better improve my own local guide experience.
Being a local guide is so fulfilling to me because I know I am impacting my community in such an amazing way. When I leave a review or post photos of an area I know that others can see and trust what I am posting. Being a local guide is it’s own amazing reward!
