Taking great shots, updating the status of places on google maps, which range from business working hours (open), relocated or closed. It’s so frustrating to dash to your local firewood prepared pizza pizzeria and found it closed or even relocated. In my city and community you have to brave bad traffic jam to go out to eat, but even the anger and hunger you will experience upon arrival to a closed pizzeria is immeasurable.
Being a local guide means really a lot to me, I love being informed and decided to share the information I have, the best way I found that out was by becoming a local guide to be able to share these updates to my fellow community members and visitors as well as listing the places where they will have a great time, blend in and feel at home, In my lists, I have listed the “most popular malls” in my city and what fun activities you are going to do there, the places I have eaten the most delicious pizza in my city, local activities in my neighborhood. To me I think it is awesome and a great moment to be sharing such information.
It started out as a little pass time activity for me contributing onto google maps, then boom! I became a local guide and the contributions continued, the points system motivated me further to keep advancing to the different levels and now it’s a hobby that I definitely enjoy doing, whereas I enjoy doing it, I be helping people around with maps updates, I love taking shots of small and local businesses in my area and city, unlike the multinationals with big marketing budgets, the local entrepreneur running a small pizzeria might not have a big aggressive budget for sales and marketing campaigns. So by adding them onto maps, the single or multiple shots of their shop front, and inside of their premises, the reviews can bring a positive impact on the cash flows and status of their business.
My favorite shot below i of Exim bank headquarters in Kampala, it’s the most popular in my local guides shots and I love it and I guess people love it, its exceeds 10k views and couldn’t be prouder.
I love being a local guide.
