what the local guides program means to me

The local guides program means a lot to me because I know I’m a part of a global platform that provides ease of access to places to people around the world. I have added some places, edited places, shared pictures of places I’ve been, and it’s a lot of fun doing all that.

I’m really proud to have gotten the invite, shows that I’ve really put in work on the map, and climbing the ladder on the levels is quite fulfilling too. Being a local guide, I have met people, interacted with them about places and their history.

As a local guide, I’ve seen some loop holes on the map. The city where I live in is not detailed enough, as the streets aren’t named, only major roads are. A company is being dismantled and relocated, but it’s still very much the same when I see it on the maps, I want to have access to name streets, other roads etc.

Going to places I have never been has never been easier, as I do not need to ask people for directions, all I need is google map, which is quite cool and convenient. I have located several new places I’ve not been to, especially the Ooni of Ife’s palace (the home to the Yoruba most ancestral king)

As a local guide, I have met up with business owners and gotten information about their businesses and it has helped them get more customers and consumers of products and services they offer. Some of them are not exposed enough and think its not good giving out their business details, but I am able to convince a few of them, others, not quite. But regardless, I will continue that, in order to continue providing ease of access to people around my community and the world at large.
