The local guide program represents to me an opportunity to make positive impact to the lives of others. Through it I help people make informed decisions about where to go and to stay safe. When I check facts, make reviews, do edits and add pictures I am actually helping people to avoid bad and unsafe neighborhoods, I am helping people to eat qualify food, I am helping people to meet up with their appointments, etc.
Through the Local Guides Program I make lots of worthy but unknown businesses get discovered, for example when I add new restaurants I help them get discovered thereby boosting their turnover. Nothing is more satisfying like receiving a ‘thank you’ message from a Business for a positive review. This help put food on several tables and even help some good cooks to be able afford their children’s school fees, especially in a third world country like Cameroon.
On a personal level, being a Local Guide is beneficial, every contribution I make enable me earn points which take me to higher levels. These high levels open opportunities for me such as early access to google features, funded trips like (Connect Live’) to places which I would otherwise not be able to visit or fund. Moreover, the free storage on Google is a huge benefit from being a local guide.
