I love eating and drinking.
Honestly, about 90% of my disposable income probably goes towards either one or the other. I’m always around something interesting to eat or drink.
I discovered the program a few years ago by accident. I was going on a city-wide tour of the hidden bars and restaurants with my fiance, trying to find a great unknown place to claim for ourselves, and I wanted somewhere to document our experiences, not only to remember but also to help like-minded people.
At the time, all I knew there was for this was Yelp. I had it for about half an hour on my phone before I uninstalled it. To me it was unusable.
That’s when I discovered the Local Guides program. I love to be able to use the photos I take for my Instagram somewhere where people will actually seek out information on how the place is before going.
I depend much more on Google Maps’ ratings than I used to because I know the kind of people evaluating them. I always check the reviews before going to a new, listed place.
The Local Guides program helped me to interact more with others who have the same interests and gave my outings an extra layer of fun. I love the program and am proud to be a part of it.
