Here’s a little about me; I love travel and adventure, so I always seek excitement in even the littlest ways around me. As such, I fancied having a job that makes me travel and tell others about it: perfect job! However, we all know how life goes with such dreams, especially without an android phone or any idea whatsoever on how to accomplish that: hardly any chance to fulfill such dreams.
By 2017, I had an android phone and was an avid user of Google maps because it just made my journeys and visits a lot easier regardless of my familiarity with the destination. There were some missing places on the map, mistakes here and there which kept reminding me of my dream: to visit places and tell others about it. Then ¡Boom! Google suggests I make a contribution and that’s how I started living my dream. For most of that time (before I got an actual job that took a lot of my time), my friends thought I was working for Google because I was all over the place about sending updates, reviewing and contributing. It was just so exciting because I get to post pictures and information about places I go, help others live vicariously through me. Even more engaging is that there’s always something to benefit as I contribute, almost like a job that allows me work at my own pace and help others at the same time.
The local guides program added to my conviction that dreams come true, sometimes in very unexpected ways; we just have to be open-minded and willing. So yes, I look forward to more travel, adventure and updates to the maps and local guides community.
