Hello, World (and you Local Guides)!
I’m Juan, 24 years old. Since I was young I was exposed to the particular hobbies of my dad, caving and canyoning (I got that fever now, I crave jungle).
Find yourself a hole in the jungle (Siera de Perijá), and go along the caverns, rivers, and trails underneath the mountains, until you can’t see your hand in front of your face or encounter a dead end because you don’t have scuba diving equipment. It seems like “maybe another day” response to a lot of people but, so I started to post some pictures of the beautiful landscapes and points of interest like caves, waterfalls, rivers, and mountains. It’s not cool to have those places for tourism and they weren’t on the map, for me is like a map of Florida without Disney. I’m happy to see how many people got to see those hidden pearls just by the contribution of one.
9 months ago I started working to set appointments & journeys in public schools and public health care centers. I started adding almost all of those places where the program was set, them adding reviews about it because why not sharp the knife you use to slice the cake, right?
Managing my self to keep track of this as my job, so I could smoothly take this chance to fill the spots and improve my job as Team Coordinator, this local guide program gave me the tool to give better directions (or just the location link), show others how to, even show my teammates the place where they about to set journey for that day in specific. I could say that this was my formula, so now I can share it and have some other ideas to enhance my contributions.
So I tell you a little about my background:
-
I’m living in Maracaibo, Zulia
-
Both parents are Doctors and teacher’s in the same Medicine Faculty I attended to
-
I’m the oldest of 5 siblings
-
Likes the outdoors more than Indoors.
-
I volunteer to coordinate a team in an Associated partnership in a Nutritional Program with UNICEF, here in Maracaibo since last year.
I wanted to show you one of the places that remind me how important is a Map in the Human History.
This picture is from a Family trip to Isla de Coche in January.
At last but not least, I want to thank all the people I meet while doing all these adventures.
