What the local guide program means to me

So I’m a local guide L7 and i have never written a post here before :). I’m briefly writing about what the local guide program means to me. First of all, I became a local guide just as a passion to help people discover other places and provide information to others so they can also make decisions on the same.

The local guides program is such amazing and means a lot to me in the sense that, it is very helpful in helping others discover places conveniently. What i mean by this is that, what if you needed to purchase a microphone for recording videos, hungry and want a local food joint for paster?, what if you are in a new country and you needed a place where you can get a local meal? With the help of local guides, I have been able to provide information for somethings that are not mostly on the map.

For example, when i moved to a new city, i was looking for a nearby washing bay to wash by bike. I had to ride for about 30 minutes in a distance of 10km to search for washing bay because there was no information on the map. These are services usually don’t have websites to search other than on the map. So i added all the places i found which there were some that were just a couple of kilometers away from me. So the local guides programs means a lot to me in ways as such.

One other interesting thing i like about the local guide program is being able to favorite places and create lists. I always favorite a place i like most like food joins and best Chinese restaurants. I have not really received much perks from being part of the program, the last one i can recall receiving was a pair socks which i have kept as an achievement. Hopefully I will get to wear it at the local guide meet. I’ve received a few software trials but never got to use them because i did not need them at the time.

So yes, I like the fact that the local guides program allows me to share information for people and myself and that means a lot to me :slightly_smiling_face:
