What the Local Guide program means to me: Adventure, contribution, accomplishment and Brotherhood

I am a local guide since 2 Years and since then I have been experiencing a unique kind of experience and to me, it means much more than a usual program to be enrolled in.

I always wanted to get involved in something different that’s both a source of fun and help. I decided to join Google’s Local Guide program and that was the best decision I ever made. Since then I have been offering my services as an enthusiastic and fully participating local guide. It literally gave me access to the whole world in a whole new and exciting way. Through that, I managed to become a part of something really big, my extended family from the different places of the world with different cultures, diverse languages, colorful places, and tasty foods.

Being a local guide opened a new door of brand new opportunities and information for me. It brought me closer to many other like-minded individuals in the form of countless local guides across the globe with whom I share the same goals and perspectives. We contribute together by adding new and unique places to the grand Google maps. It also creates an atmosphere of friendly competition for us which makes us improve our efforts and to make larger contributions by making more places known to everyone.

It also gives me a sense of accomplishment every time I add a new place. Being a valuable individual and a guide for people feels so good and special.

Traveling and exploring new places has been my favorite hobby since my childhood. I still remember my 6 years old self-riding a bike and carrying a backpack full of my stuff that always included a dummy camera and telescope and I used to pretend to look through my telescope and clicking pictures through my little camera. Being a local guide for Google enabled me to be a guide in a truer way. Traveling the whole world and exploring all the places has always been my aim.

But I have started through the local places first and I aim to add these favorite places of mine on the global map of Google. I want the places I love should be known and accessible by everyone from anywhere across the globe and I made it possible by getting enrolled in this awesome local guide program. I really enjoy being a part of it and I am still looking forward to adding many more places I can.
