What The Local Guide program is for me.

A few years back I looked for a place to eat with friends.

At that time, if you wanted to find some recommendations, you ended on some blogs.

At least usually that was the case. I found someplace for that specific lunch due to the picture of the meal with a well-written review on google maps. Soon after I started to do the same. Write a review, add missing pictures, places. As a scientist and engineer, I believe in accessible and well-prepared information. Easy to find whenever it’s needed.

I remember my very first entry. It was missing phone number to the private office. No webpage, old-school team. Only business cards. They had localisation on Google Maps, but nothing more than that.

So, … I added it. And pretty much that what I consider is what guides are about.

As a Local Guide, I had seen some people did great stuff in the community. I am not one of that kind. I am filling small holes that prove to be the pain is someones searches. Maybe it is not the most interesting thing that could be done. But in my eyes, the most needed. To keep everything up to date and usable.
