What The Local Guide Means to me? - universal brotherhood.

Local Guide binds me to a whole new community! I am simply so thrilled that I write reviews, post pictures that people view, like and learn. The feeling that it’s helping someone somewhere itself is satisfying!

I started about 5 years ago, accidentally when a doctor asked me for inputs on the local restaurants and places of interest. When he shared about Google Maps, got back home & was immediately hooked.

The Local Guide means helping, connecting, bringing the community closer. I feel am contributing to the universal brotherhood. Business, especially the wedding venues thanked me for the reviews, I had never expected to receive a Thank you note, and that I have made a very small impact on the business is so very rewarding. One of my post (canopy walk) I was asked for help, I was so thrilled, that I went to the local forest department to get the contact details for the person who need help. It made them happy & I felt blessed. One of the owners of a cake shop (Kamat’s) called me and told me that his cake orders saw a jump after my post. I was shocked, & satisfied. The urge of exploring new places has increased. At any location I am motivated to ask for more information so as to add it to the review. I feel it’s my responsibility to pass on the correct & as much information as possible so as to make some one’s trip easy & helpful.

Google Maps is bringing the world closure, and Local Guides are adding & binding it. The “up” feeling when I get a mail (monthly review mail) tells me that my pictures reached so many views, & my post helped so many others, its like have contributed to the world community & made a difference. God Bless this program & keep it flying higher. I have been looking forward to attending the Live Connect program for years now, so that I can connect, learn, make new friends, invite them home – make it truly as said in Indian Contest “Vasudeva Kutumbum” (the whole world as one family) see ya there!

“universal brotherhood.”

Nice phrase @Hemal25

and very well said.

Vasudeva Kutumbum (the whole world as one family) has roots in India and participating in the LG program is only a modern version of it.

Happy Guiding
