What’s your favorite kind of coffee drink?

Happy International Coffee Day to all coffee lovers! Is coffee as essential for you to start your day as it is for me? Whether it is a cup of espresso, cappuccino, or moka, coffee is the kick-starter of my day and sometimes the medicine for my headache.

Here are some of my favorite types of coffee. Are any of them your favorite, too?

Frappé

Frappé is a foamy iced coffee that’s easily made from coffee, milk, ice cubes, and some sugar, depending on your taste. It is my ideal choice for a refreshing drink on a hot day that many coffee enthusiasts could appreciate.

Cappuccino

In the cold winter months, I start my day with a warm cup of cappuccino. I usually have it with non-dairy milk such as almond, hazelnut, or coconut milk. Equal parts double espresso, steamed milk, and steamed milk foam on top make a perfect cappuccino. One of my favorite places to have it in my city is Memento.

Turkish coffee

Sitting with my grandmother in our garden on a sunny afternoon or watching our favorite TV show was always accompanied by a Turkish coffee. I love the smell, the taste, and the texture of it. Traditionally cooked on hot sand, Turkish coffee is thick and bubbly with a strong aroma. Despite the name, however, it originated in Yemen. To make it, mix a tablespoon of finely ground coffee, water, and some sugar (optional), and simmer at a low temperature.

Latte

I like to experiment with different flavors of coffee from time to time, as well as explore new coffee places near me. The last place I had a cup at was The Coffee Room. Latte is very similar to a cappuccino, but it contains more steamed milk and has less foam on top. It is my go-to drink on days when I want to sit and read a book while sipping on something delightful.

Dalgona

A sensational trend this year is the Dalgona coffee, so I had to try it. I went to a local restaurant, Tables, just to have a cup, and I loved it! That is yet another refreshing drink, which is fluffy and incredibly delicious. All you need to prepare it is instant coffee, sugar, boiling water, and milk of your choice.

Moka

The Moka pot is an important element in preparing a full-bodied coffee, rich in aroma. When in a hurry, I simply place my pot on top of the stove, add water and coffee, and wait for it to be ready. I’ve been doing this for some time now, and it is a cheap way to make coffee at home or while camping that doesn’t require much effort.

Espresso

Last but not least, my savior during my university years, the espresso. While rushing around or almost falling asleep from the long hours of lectures, the espresso was there for me, keeping me focused and making my day better just with its aroma.

The best part of waking up early in the morning is the smell of coffee tickling my nose. I’m enamored with the taste of coffee not only as a drink but also when infused in other dishes, especially desserts.

@InaS Happy International Coffee Day! Many of us, including myself cannot function without our daily Java. . Otherwise, I’ll be like a zombie the entire day. Here in Malaysia, we have our local roasted coffee beans, usually roasted with brown sugar and butter and taste substantially different from espresso based clean coffee. Our local coffee is very “thick” and one sip, makes on stay alert for the entire day. And eaten with fried crullers (油炸油条) which we dip and eat. This is something anyone should not miss when visiting Malaysia.

Hello @InaS

A very Happy INnternational Coffee Day to you too.

I have always loved coffee and I have even tried many types of Coffees.

From the above list, I have not tried Turkish Coffee, but I wish to try one soon.

Also, have you tried Golden coffee yet? It is just like a cappuccino but with glitter on top.

Thanks for sharing!

Nous Nous, similar to a cappuccino, served here in Morocco.

It is half milk and half coffee - NousNous means half half in local Arabic!

Happy International Coffee Day indeed @InaS and to all fellow Local Guides! I too love the smell of coffee on waking but I have to say, that I love it any time of the day lol. However, I do like to kick-start my day with a coffee and while I love the smell of Turkish coffee, my preference is for a flat white and like you, I usually have it with non-dairy milk such as almond.

Hey @InaS ,

For someone who doesn’t drink coffee on a daily basis it is hard to believe there are so many types of coffee. I’ve only recently joined the world of coffee and found a type that I actually kind of like it a lot. For a few weeks I’ve been drinking it and I love the flavor it has. It is called Cortado, which is a mixture of espresso and milk, and maybe a little bit of sugar.

This is my favorite time in the morning when I make myself a cup of coffee and see the sunrise from my window. Have you ever tasted a Cortado coffee?

For coffee I prefer brewed coffee, @InaS . Or in Indonesia we called it “kopi tubruk.”

I like it’s character which is rough, but had strong taste and aroma.@@

Hi @InaS

There are busy days with a hectic schedule when I must live with coffee for the whole day and Espresso is my preference.

Have you heard about filter coffee that is popular in India but is fast dwindling in popularity?

It is made by crushing thick and hard coffee cakes that are boiled in water for a prolonged time before finally filtering to mix with a thickener.

The filter coffee is the one I prefer when at home.

The best part is the aroma starts percolating into the nose during its lengthy preparation and culminating in having that magical sip of coffee.

Filter coffee is not a drink - it is an experience.

So many different coffees, @InaS ! I seriously need to invest in a Moka pot as well - I really enjoyed reading about your favorites, especially reading about how espresso was your savior during university as it was for me  - the aroma alone can provide me with energy.

I personally enjoy most coffee black to enjoy the flavor of the roasts, and being in South Florida, iced coffee is usually a go-to for me as well. I also like iced lattes and affogatos too. Although, I’d recommend trying an nitro infused iced coffee, as I detailed here in one of my posts. :yum:

Hope everyone had a great international coffee day!
