Why I love adding photos to Google Maps as Local Guide was that it helps me to understand that while searching for a restaurant, most of the people tend to be more interested in the interior/atmosphere of a restaurant and this helps me a lot while planning/writing my restaurant review articles.
I am managing a social platform and website for our company which is based on sharing information about healthy tips on food, restaurant reviews, and cooking videos. Therefore, knowing what type of food-related pictures are the most eye-catching is very essential. I discovered Google Local Guides program 1-2 years ago and thought since I need to take photos while reviewing the restaurants, why not sharing them on Google to help others to know more about the restaurants? Especially when I noticed some of the photos exiting on Google while I searched for some restaurants were with poor lighting or angle that made the meals looked not as tasty as it should have been.
After I started uploading photos to Google Maps as a Local Guide, I have been receiving updates regarding the popularity of those photos and that’s where I found that people are tend to be more interested in the interior or atmosphere of the restaurants instead of the food! The very first photo I posted above that reached over 1,000,000 views were the one that wakes me up! I have been focusing on how to take nice foodie photos with different angles, close-ups, and different cameras. This discovery was the most interesting part to find because I thought I need to take only photos that catches the most mouth-watering food photos to attract viewers, but the interior/atmosphere are as important as taking food photos! This discovery also helps me with my original intention, to help others finding the right restaurant to go to when they’re out of ideas. Now, every time when I am writing a new article, I will definitely share all the photos I have prepared for the article onto Google Maps. I am very happy to find how many people have seen the photos and imagine this could change their decision while selecting a restaurant to go to for their important event in their lives gives me the strength and positive energy to keep me going!
