Living in Vancouver is to live where land meets the sea. A sea port city, Vancouver is a place where culture thrives. Since moving here I have been drawn to the thriving food scene and what it has to offer every palette under any budget in different neighbourhoods in the Lower Mainland.
The food that has grabbed my attention is sushi. When I relocated to Vancouver, Canada for work in 2017 I made it my mission to try as many as sushi joints in different neighbourhoods as I could. It combined two of my greatest passions: the kind of food that I could eat over and over again and not get sick of and exploring. What better way to see what this great city has to offer?
I’m an arborist (fancy tree guy) so getting in my car and going to explore as part of my day job is like going on a vacation to me. Add a sushi joint in and you’ve found my happy place.
I started in the tri-cities (known as the GVA) and start posting on Google every sushi place that peaked my interest. Give me good selection, decent price, fresh produce and excellent presentation and I am a happy man.
Eventually I found myself ending up in new places, seeing new faces and getting excited to share my findings.
The topic may be sushi, which in Vancouver is plentiful, good quality and reasonably priced but at the end of the day - food brings people together to share and spend time with others. Sushi has given me a reason to do that here in my new city and for that I am grateful for the us in sushi.
