When I first moved to the United Kingdom and was on a tight budget, I would spend hours and hours reading reviews of places I wanted to visit…hey, I was on a tight budget and my choice had to be worth the spend! These reviews were to me what the Polaris was to sailors in the northern hemisphere. I relied on them to make decisions and be guided. Overtime, I could never visit a place without reading a dozen reviews; and places without reviews were not even an option, they were dropped like they were hot! Having benefitted from the reviews of others, I not only felt a sense of duty to contribute to this amazing community of foodies, explorers and fun lovers but I also genuinely enjoyed sharing my experiences with the world! My biggest motivation is knowing that we could all become each other’s guide and just as people’s reviews served as my Polaris, I want my contributions to also serve as someone’s Polaris: this is one of the many things the Local Guide Program means to me…the chance for me to guide.
Also, aware that reviews from local guides like myself may reach millions of potential customers, many businesses and service providers strive to deliver excellent customer service lest a bad review causes them to lose customers. Coming from a country (Ghana) that is not noted for great customer service provided by businesses, I am delighted to be part of a program that can influence and change this. I dare say there is now a positive shift in the customer service provided by a good number of businesses.
The local Guides program to me, again, means adding value to a society of people who enjoy and love the things I do. I have always wanted to contribute positively to society and since joining the LGP, I believe I am achieving this by giving guidance to people whilst influencing the level of great service businesses grant to customers.

Hey @Hikma_F ,
Thanks for sharing.
I have just released your post from the Spam Filters. I would like to apologize for your post being marked as spam. Our filters run 24/7 and they can be a little harsh at times.
Keep in mind that multiple edits can trigger a quarantine until a moderator manually releases the post. Be sure to preview your submission before hitting “post.” You can visit this article to learn more - Why was my Connect post marked as spam?.
Hello @Hikma_F You might have wondered what happened to the first post you wrote, as that all of a sudden disappeared, right? Well, actually, it was accidentally caught in our spam filter (which is quite strict out here). I have now released it and merged it with your other post, to avoid that your Connect account would get flagged as spammer.
The result is that the content of your first post is now added as a comment to your second post. If you want, you can remove the content of that comment by clicking the ‘…’ at the bottom of the comment and then simply removing the content there (or replace it with something like “content removed as it was an accidental duplicate”).
