What means, your photo is on an exposed spot/place.

Hello.

Recently, i uploaded new pictures, for some places i got the message (push?) that some are on an exposed spot.

I did not find them as first photos or any showy spot.So what does it mean in context with google maps?

Hi @BenKramer

Thanks for your question. I think you are referring to the fact that pictures can be featured on a place. It is kind of an honor when the Artificial Intelligence find your picture to be so good that it will be shown between the first 8 pictures shown for a location. The most prominent honor is of cause to be the photographer behind the cover picture = the very first picture. That will give you a view when ever the place shows up with one picture = your picture.

So featured is not equal to having the cover photo. Just being shown as one of the very first (about 8 :sunglasses: photos).

If your picture is not shown after you got the push notification then the reason could be that you have to wait about 24 hours before all the servers will know or maybe another local guides already uploaded an even better picture.

If you look under Your contributions / Photos and sort them by views you will typically see that your most viewed pics are featured. That’s the way to get many views.

Hope this helps.

Hello @MortenCopenhagen

Thank you very much, somehow i always missed out/overlooked that photos can be sorted by views. After sorting them, i found out, you are right.

Until some days ago, i never had that push notification, so i was curious. Now i could also see my very new photos at “pole” position. WOW, might be childish, but i feel happy with that

Thanks, your answer resolved my question
