What makes a restaurant authentic

2018 was the year of travel for me, with countries and continents that I visited for the first time.
Starting with Australia then to the World Cup in Russia and in the end Vietnam and Japan.
And in November I also became a father ?

Even in the years before, traveling was an important part of my life.
Of course, there were unique culinary delights in each country that intrigued me with new flavors, customs and eating habits.

Back in Austria I was always on the lookout for my travel memories.
And how could this be better than with authentic restaurants.

In Via Toledo in Vienna you get pizza …

…as I had only in Italy.

Owner and almost all the staff comes from Italy, it can not be more authentic.

In the restaurant “Saigon” I was catapulted back to the Mekong Delta …

…absolutely how I experienced the taste of Vietnam.
Almost all staff and many guests are from Vietnam, a very good sign!

Well, I have to admit, everything from Vietnam I could not (and did`t want to) find in Austria …

In the Viennese restaurant Sakai I was spoiled with the delicacies …

I got to know in Japan…
Again, the majority of staff from Japan, as well as a large part of the guests.

And when I was in Australia …

I could confirm that the Australian Beef tastes like the on from “Beef and Glory” in Vienna …

However, I have not found the “typical” Australian food that I discovered in the Viennese Australian Pub “Crossfield” …

My absolute tip to recognize an authentic restaurant:

Guests from the region that the restaurant represents.

You can not go wrong and enjoy an unknown culture even if you have never visited the country.

So, next time you give yourself a try and discover something new!

Cheers
