I know what are you thinking, what a silly question? its the locality itself and the experience right? what else it could be. Okay now imagine those two weddings that you have attended in your life which has the craziest pictures and you still talk about when you meet the bride/groom after many years and now, compare this to that lousy wedding of that one person which you wish was the worse investment of your time and you still wish you should have never been to.
Places are the same, we might think it must be our decision to visit itself, the weather of the season, the people we have been with or may be the people we meet there. what adds more value to all these is the fascinating history of the place. Yes, knowing the little bit of history of any place gives an memorable paint to the wall of memories that we build wherever we go. I’ve learnt this the hard way. I live in Rome, Italy and Colosseum is the most visited places in the EU and love the Architecture and i visited that place at least 20 times in my first 6 months of stay never initiated to learn anything about it.
Eventually i made a couple of friends who recommended me for a job as a tour guide near the Colosseum and i decided to take it. It was a job to sell tickets and there was much less to explore i didn’t like it. However as a perk we had an opportunity to visit the insides of the amazing place with the tour guide who was assisting the tourists. That was the day I really fell in love with the Colosseum not the 20 times before when i started connecting the dots of the reasons and the damages and the stories behind it, the bloodbath, the Arena and even the toilets never made me stare at the Colosseum before. Before the amazing wonder of the world Architecture did not make any sense to me just like the lousy wedding which was just a formality until i started making memories with the amazing story that was carved into me which made my experience memorable just by a pinch of History.
