It started when I was reading Dan Brown’s mystery thriller novel, Inferno.
Reading that book made my mind travel to destinations far from where I live. I think everyone wants to travel the world and seek different adventures. This is where my adventure started.
As I was flipping through the pages and consuming that book, I had difficulty imagining the places being depicted in the story. What Italy looks like, where the Palazzo Vecchico in Florence was located and the endless twist and turns the author wanted his reader to go.
Then I discovered the “street view” of Google Maps and it took adventure book reading into a whole new level. with the help of Local guides and people uploading their stories; it helped me as a reader to travel further and deep beyond just the text. I was now “in” the shoes of the protagonist/antagonist. Got to see the Gates of Paradise, the mask of Dante Alighieri and the streets where the character of Robert Langdon would traverse.
This is more than just a guide to tourists; its a great venue for discovery and adventure even when at home.
