What Local Guides program means to me

Hey!! Hello everybody!!

It has been a while since the last time I posted here and it is kind of weird writing this time since, as well as in other countries, Peru is under quaratine since march 16th until probably april 12th. I hope everything gets better and please, #stayhome!!

Well, it is amazing how things could change due to some unexpected events and how that inpacts in life. For example, in the past, I usually posted about the good things of being a local guide, what it meant to me and things like that, but under these circumstances (the coronavirus pandemia) it is like a reflective moment in which you realize that there are a lot of ways of being a good person.

I used to consider that being a local guide was like having the power to express good or bad about places on google maps. Like being a small dictator who wanted to fix Maps according to his beliefs but now that almost nobody is outside, it is like nothing makes sense.

So, I realized that Google Maps is not only about well ranked and very famous places in luxury or very populated places. In fact, Google Maps is (and should be) useful to show the other places, the ones that remain lost and even forgoten for locals who seem to have become blind to those places. And these places are also amazing, they could be far, there might not be transportation, you’d probably have to walk alone, but when you get there, you’ll realize it is worth.

I also realized that the program local guides, means precisely that, guiding, not only editing places or writing reviews. I don’t want to sound disrespectful or arrogant because reviewing or editing places are valid ways of contribuiting with the program. What I want to say is that for me, it will be more pleasant to show people about the tourist destinations that I know, to go with them and maybe host them at my home or even share a meal.

Being a Local Guide now means for me more because I can connect better with people from all over the world. #LetsGuide.

Oh, by the way, I’d like to share a video I edited from a place, not very know in my town, that I think you’ll enjoy, especially because you will find nature, some outdoor activities and very good views at the top of the mountain.

The name of that place is Unishcoto Ruins and you can check more information about that in the following links:

Google Maps: Unishcoto Ruins

Thanks for watching!!

Hello @ADavilaZ it looks like your post was accidentally caught in our spamfilter (which is pretty strict here; it can be triggered even by simply making edits to a recently published post). I have now released it from the spam folder.

By the way: as you mighjt have noticed, the preview of your post has no image, as the post only contains a video and no photo. You can still add a picture somewhere in the post to change that (although posts without image are also fine, of course)

Ok @JanVanHaver !! Thank you for your help and suggestions!! Happy day for you!!
