The Local Guides program has changed my life to a great extent in many ways.
Being a Local Guide has enabled me to help others. I can easily share my knowledge and experience of places that I have visited. For example, my list of must-visit eateries in Mumbai, India helps others by telling them all they need to know about the top-notch cafes located in Mumbai.
Adding photos of the places that I have visited, adding new places or editing the existing ones, adding rating and reviews help me in giving back to the community. It helps others make a better decision on which café to have lunch at or which place to hang out with their friends and family.
The monthly update emails that I receive from local Guides give me an insight into the impact that I have made through my photos, reviews and edits.
Also, the Local Guides program has helped me get better at photography. I am now able to click better photos of places that I visit and share them with others through Google Maps.
Now my photos on Maps have over 11 lakh(1.1 Million) views.
Before visiting any new city/town, I create a “go-to” list of all the places that I should visit there. This helps me in creating a clear itinerary and have an enjoyable stay.
I also share the list on Google Maps to help others too with additional notes.
Contributing to the community by helping others make better decisions gives me joy. This further drives me to write better reviews and post quality photographs.
The local guides program is the best platform to share everything useful and interesting with people all over the globe and I am proud to be a part of it.
