Local Guide to me is simply an acronym that means; Letting Others Consider Accessing Locations (LOCAL) Giving Understanding in Detailed Expression (GUIDE). A Local Guide is a beacon of light that brightens locations and routes that people knows little or nothing about. Because his/her presence will bring forth illumination, through pictures uploaded, in addition to comprehensive reviews that may follow thereafter. A Local Guide is a guardian angel that leads the way for a first timer to admire or repulse a location from a far before getting closer.
Local guide to me, means a platform to bring my auditing background as a professional accountant to bear. This makes editing my best activity on google map because, it offers me the opportunity to practice what I do in my professional calling on Google map. This has always guided my performance as a Local Guide and prompted my suggestion to enforce the use of coordinate points only for the purpose of creating places on google to guaranty the accuracy.
As a victim of wrong place creation, my experience trying to locate Calabar Kitchen in Abakaliki Nigeria when I first came to the town, can only be described as frustrating. Because of that, I adopted the slogan “never again” never again will a place created on wrong location be allowed to exist to avert confusion.
Never again will a place created without pictorials and reviews be allowed to exist leaving people in the dark regarding their places of interest even when this will mean taking risk to bring up pictures that will describe these locations better.
Furthermore, as an accountant whose motto is accuracy and integrity I am looking forward to a time when every information or at least places created on the map will be accurate and so precise that its integrity with be reliable enough for researchers to rely on it for the purpose of data gathering for educational purposes. Then, Local Guide will mean, a reliable information provider.
