I believe that overcoming a fear and facing a new reality with courage and determination is one of the great events in the history of our lives and the local guides program is one of the main responsible for me to overcome a fear and give me the opportunity to live unique moments and striking.
The unknown always generates some insecurity, however the internet creates revolutionary tools that help us to know what was previously unknown without having to have any physical contact with it. And google had this great idea of putting real people to present the world through their perspectives and experiences to other people who are curious and willing to get to know new horizons, people, cultures, stories…
The local guides had a decisive importance in the trips I took in the last 3 years, with their collaborations, they gave me a light on which places to visit, which places most suited me, which were more accessible and other essential tips that made all the difference in my experience in the places. And thanks to my luggage and exchange of experiences with the local guides during those years, I decided to do something for the first time last year which was to travel alone to another region of my country where I knew nothing and nobody, but I was sure of it would be a wonderful and comfortable experience because before I going, I researched the whole tourist itinerary through google maps and read several reviews of local guides, from the accommodation to where I could have a quick snack. Without google maps and, mainly, without the contribution of local guides, maybe I would never travel alone to a place that I have never been before and without knowing anything.
The trip to Fortaleza-CE was incredible, I got to know a lot about its history, culture and landscapes, besides making good friends. It added a lot to my personal growth and self-knowledge and showed me that it is possible to overcome the obstacles of fear and insecurity when there is a global network to support you and help you to know places with remarkable histories and culture and great people. After this experience, the local guides program encouraged me to seek even more new horizons and, with my collaborations about my region, I hope to feed the same feeling of courage and curiosity in other people through this tool that was essential to change my vision about the world.
