What local Guides Program means to me : hobby, fun, sharing and exploring.

My First significant encounter with Google Maps was when i moved to Delhi from my hometown in Assam for studies. I started using maps on a daily basis, from where to eat , which places to visit and it even helped me to make a wise decision on where to stay for best commute time to and fro from College.

And after some time i came across the local guides program, and with it started the journey of exploring and adding as many details as i could. The points system is a added bonus , as the badges made me feel that my contributions are being recognised. (The perks were just over the top, especially the socks as compared to any other perk, having them made me feel like a part of Google itself.)

I have travelled to over 5 countries and many destinations within India in last few years , and everywhere being a part of local guide were a big part of the trip. As i was able to connect with other local guides to get suggestions( I suggest everyone to do so, before visiting a new place. As a first hand experience will give you a much better insight to the beauty of any place.) And most importantly, while travelling abroad it helped me steer clear of certain places while travelling with family to avoid any unnecessary awkward situations.

And even though i might not be eingthe biggest contributor. Being part of the local guides has become my feel good hobby.
