What Local Guides program mean to me

Hi :slightly_smiling_face: My name is Omer, and I live in Barcelona. What does the Local Guides program mean for me? I guess I discovered Local Guides by chance around 2016, when I was living in Berlin and I checked some info about a restaurant in the city. I posted a picture of the food I ordered and I found out that I was helping many people like me. It made me feel great and I thought “why not continue?”

Ever since, in my (many) travels around the world, I’m trying to share as much as I can, since I’m seeing how I benefit from others so I want to share this help. I have been backpacking around Asia for 9 months, and recently in Central America for 3 months, also living in Europe and the Middle East. I have gained many experiences and stories, which I love sharing and helping with others.

Personally, when I travel, I usually use Google Maps when trying to find new places and experiences, while counting on people’s reviews. I find it very reliable and I use it often.

One of the features I like most is the feedback I receive after I’m posting. The replies and likes people give me. It gives real meaning to the fact that I’m actually helping people throughout the world. I also like the email we get from time to time, covering the last month or other period, showing me which pictures were popular, etc.

In addition, one of the features I love the most is when Google Maps suggests me to upload my pictures and write my reviews after I’ve been somewhere, since it gives me a great chance to sit down and remember my exploring. I believe most people take so many pictures but so rarely get the chance to review them later in life. I love this feeling :slightly_smiling_face:
