I discovered the Local Guides program when I was traveling in Japan. I found it extremely useful when looking up nearby businesses and restaurants. Some places had a lot of reviews and pictures and others had little to none. It didn’t mean these places were unpopular or bad. They just didn’t have people who took the time to posts about them. So I made it a mission to post as many pictures and write a review for English speaking customers.
When I came back home I learned that my local businesses were experiencing the same issues that the ones in Japan had. They just had little or no information about them. So I continue to this day to post photos, reviews or answer as many questions as I can to support my local community. Like St James Tearoom Albuquerque, NM from the photo above. It is a great little tearoom that hosts different themes high tea each month. The menu changes each month with the theme. I make sure to post as many photos with descriptions to help others.
Local Guides also helps myself interact with others. I am an introvert and I have trouble speaking with others. I also have difficulty going to new places. Some of the suggested places with Google maps and places that I can look up with lots of photos and details help me feel more comfortable in a new setting. It makes my day easier. So thank you Google and all Local Guides who continue to contribute!
