What Local Guides means to me: Travelling freely in a foreign country

Thanks to Local Guides, I have travelled alone to India three years ago, which then I had never been. I spent three weeks in India (mostly in the northern and nortwestern parts of the country), and without Local Guides definitely it would have been incomplete.

First city I have been in India was the capital Delhi. The first thing I noticed was the amazing crowd, especially in the Old Delhi!. Since it’s a multicultural, multilingual and multireligious country, India hosts many different temples belonging to different religions like Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhs, Islam and so on. In addition, many cultural buildings like Red Fort reflect the colonial past of the country. Luckily, I found my way even if I had not have a local sim card in the first day. After receiving one, I started to regularly check reviews and comments of the Local Guides. Those comments enabled me to discover the secret places surrounding the monuments and historical places. And of course, tips about where to shoot the best photos, like the India Gate below!

Mostly included in the list of 7 Wonders of the World, I had a chance to visit Taj Mahal in Agra, but the restoration was going on, unfortunately. There was not much thing to do in Agra except visiting Taj Mahal in sunrise, plus attending to a Local Guides meet-up and getting to know new friends from all over the World!

Also in Jaipur, I followed the recommendations of the Local Guides and kept my photo camera away from monkeys. Thus, I attained good shots of the monkeys in Monkey Temple, which is located in a hill and possible to catch amazing shots of the city.

The dinner place in the last night I spent in Jaipur was also selected from the good comments of the Local Guides. After days of Delhi Belly, the delicious meals of Jaipur Modern hit the spot!

In short, it was my first trip to India, but I didn’t feel alone there. Both by meet-ups and useful advices, I have found my way in this marvellous country. Hope to meet again anywhere!
