Since I discovered the Local Guides I’ve fallen in love with the whole idea and it makes me want the entire world to use it. To me, the initiative of Google to create a worldwide environment for explores to share their experiences means giving them the power of transformation.
I feel really empowered with the possibility of sharing the things I live in places with the rest of the world. It can be for them to pursuit great experiences or also to avoid some that may not be so good. I say that especially because of the fact that I and the most part of my friends are members of the LGBTQ+ community and some places can be not so friendly with us. For my application, I decided to create a list of locations around town that are run by lesbian and bisexual women and also a comfortable place for all types of women too.
I also believe that the chance Google gives us to give feedback to entrepreneurs to help them to improve their jobs and products. It is really nice too when they give us responses to our posts and reviews.
I believe as well that Local Guides makes me desire to get to know more about the place I live in. Because of my main list of Vegetarian Places in Belo Horizonte, I go out way more, ask my friends about places and connect to my city. As a Local Guide, I can live my city, help tourists and other citizens to do the same.
I really believe that cities are made of people. Places are made of people and we need to go out to create places. If there are no people, if no one is paying attention to everyday life and locations, then, there are no places.
Last but not least, the Connect feature of the Local Guide helps me to enjoy every place I visit, every new city or town, a new beach and discover new locations. For example, when I traveled to NYC, in 2019, I stayed there for only 2 days with a group of 6 friends. Knowing that my time was going to be short, I looked into Connect and found a forum from 2016 asking for Local Guides to recommend things to do. With all the responses, I made my schedule and that was one of the best trips I’ve ever done.
Local Guides transformed mine and my friend’s lives, our trips, the enterprises and every Local Guide’s relation to the places. It has the capacity of changing our way to see the world.
