The Local Guides program has had a great impact on my life since I got involved 2 and a half years
ago. A Local Guide means to me assistance, memories, feedback, in other words, shared experience.
Through my involvement in the Local Guides program, I’ve find new places that I wouldn’t able to find before like museums, restaurants, bars, clubs, hotels, etc. Every place was new for me, friends and family and that means that we shared experiences and created memories that can be framed in a photo or in a comment.
I never thought that helping others could be as easy as writing a few lines in 5 minutes and at the same time it could be so satisfying because you know that your comment is helping others like you, that at some point I will need someone’s advice to take a decision.
We can say that the idea of sharing opinions has always been present in life but the Local guides program has taken it to another level, because it gives us the opportunity to share opinions with anyone from anywhere in the world and that is simply great from any perspective. It can help you if you go on vacation to another place, if you are passing, a business trip or as in my case I moved to Mexico City and everything was new to me, I had only gone a couple of times when I was a child and the city is huge.
I remember an event two years ago called Formula E Mexico GP which is a new race format organized by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile that uses electric cars. It is only a few years old, so it still needs to win over a lot of fans. This is a photo of the event at the Foro Sol in Mexico City I went with my roommates and had a a great time enjoying the race and a concert included and it is my most viewed photo on Google Maps so far.
So, I think discovering a new place does not have to be tedious about bad expectations, you can always know the experience of someone just like you who expects the best and hopes to have a good time, also you can make a difference to help choose a destination to another local guide like me.
