What Local Guides means to me: Providing good information for others

To me the Local Guides program means getting to share my experiences with other travelers. There’s no exception to where travelers are from, whether they’re local or from across the globe. People can find my contribution and get to know more about what they’re planning to visit today or in the future.

I love to go somewhere and try out as many restaurants and activities as possible. I try to take as many helpfull pictures as possible. Then in my review I try to provide helpfull details. For instance I’ve done this in Arcen, The Netherlands. We (me, my husband and our son) were on vacation here for a week and I was able to review 10 places in Arcen.

One of those reviews for V.O.F lunchroom 't Zoete Genot (translation: the sweet pleasure) turns out to be a really helpfull review. I provided pictures of all that was on offer at the buffet and I think this makes it helpfull for others. Since then they can visualise what they’re getting.

Next to eating my way around a town, I love to try out new hotels or holiday rental parks. One of those holiday rental park’s is where my most viewed picture is from. A photo of a room in our cabin at Vakantiepark Beekse Bergen, it has 138.311 views. I think this is because it’s a true picture of the room before we used it. I always take photos of our hotel rooms or cabins before we start using them. This way I can give the most honest photos of them.

With 469 pictures added I’ve had almost 2.000.000 views and my mission is to reach those 2 million views before July 1st. That’s what the Local Guides program does for me: challenging me to better myself in making photographs with my phone and write great, detailed reviews so that other people can make excellent choices in what is best for them to do, or where to eat, or to shop in a new town.
