I joined the Local Guides program when I purchased my first android smartphone. I was interested in the idea that I can write reviews about the places I visited, post photos of places and answer questions.

When the places in my area that I can talk about ran out, I had the opportunity and time to travel. At first it was other cities in my country, then other countries.

Once, my family and I wanted to visit an amusement park in a foreign city. I read reviews of local experts, I learned that it would be cheaper to buy tickets via the Internet than at the box office at the entrance. Thank you guys! You saved me money!
One of my achievements, I consider a small review of the restaurant with excellent burgers. I went there with friends and had a wonderful time there. After taking some photos, I posted them and wrote a short review. Some time later, I received a letter of thanks from the owner of this institution. He thanked me for visiting his small restaurant and for the positive review. Some more time passed, and my review became popular on Google Maps. What I received a message in the mail.
Helping others - you help yourself. I think this is the main mission of the Local Guides program. After all, if you can make this world a better place, then just do it!
