The Local Guides program influenced my life a lot from the time I started to be an active member, 4 years ago. Being a Local Guide means to me mutual assistance, and easier trip planning.
I like to help others through this program, as they help me. This is something exciting because you feel grateful when you find unique photographs not from the internet in general, but from a specific person who has been there before you and you can see directly from his camera, what he saw. You can read the reviews and build a better image in your mind for a place you’ve never seen. Exactly in the same way your photos and reviews help other people, and this is something that makes you feel pleasure! So, it’s something interactive. You share information because you like it and you enjoy helping, without waiting for return, but it comes unexpectedly by this community!
Koroni’s castle and town, Peloponnese, Greece.
My best part regarding Local Guides is that through Google Maps my trip planning became easier than ever! Starting from the hotels research, I can read the reviews, look the photos that Local Guides upload and decide, in a specific area, the one that I want to make a reservation for. Also when I travel by car, I explore my route through Google Maps and take Local Guides’ opinion about places that I want to visit and make a stop during my trip! In the same manner I take advice from them regarding whatever I want to visit at my destination, like museums, restaurants, bars, parks, squares, etc. All these things make my trips very easier because I can totally plan these from my smartphone using only one application because Local Guides give me all the information I need! So, I don’t have to lose my time in internet searching for things to do in my trip! Of course I don’t forget to upload my own experiences to the Local Guides community!
