I joined the Local Guides program four years ago and from that moment it changed my life, because every time I go to a new restaurant or a new place is a good moment to take a picture to share or to write a review about it. To me being a Local guide, is a way to make the difference and feeling proud.
In fact by writing reviews and taking pictures the Local Guides program gives me the possibility to share my opinion about places I have been. Through those two simple actions I can make the difference: other people by viewing them can decide to go or not go to a particular place. It’s a good way to help someone in the same way you could help a friend, with the only difference that you don’t know this person. It’s a way to help a large group of person.
But this is only one of the aspect where a review or a picture can make the difference. Another point is by adding missing activities I help local owners to increase their business, giving them the right visibility.
For example with shop near my house, it wasn’t present on maps, by adding it I saw a lot of views and I can expect a more business for him…that made me feel proud.
Or a missing pizzeria…and now it starts to have some reviews!
All those action make me feel proud of what I’m doing and push my self to do more and more…The monthly email gives exciting information about how many people I’ve helped and how many people viewed my review or my pictures, it’s a real great feeling…
For instance the views of my pictures in the 2019…Amazing!
This program made me a reference for my friends, not only for suggestions about a good place to go or to review a new one together, but also because they are proud that someone they know do this. In fact they tell this to all their acquaintances. This means a lot for me because they trust me and my opinion.
The Local Guide program is amazing for these reasons and because it can give a voice to people that aren’t used to because they are shy or simply not in the position to share it’s opinion all the time, people like me.
