What Local Guides means to me: helping people, share experiences, getting happiness
I became a Google maps contributor as a Local Guide since around 5 years ago. I’m happy helping people to know about cities and places in different countries, reading my comments to improve their traveling options. When someone is planning a trip, one of the major concerns is about the geographical characteristics of the place. The most recent travel I’ve done with my wife, was to Cartagena de Indias, Colombia and it was our first time in this place. So, the Local Guides comments in Google Maps were a crucial help when we began planning the trip.
In this way is very useful to read about the experiences of other travelers related to hotels, places for recreation, museums and restaurants in order to have a true overview of these items. As a Local Guide I’m able to help other people with these issues and also rewarding some good small business owners for their products and services, through my recommendations. I think this is fair and also very useful for the traveler who doesn’t know the places mentioned. Furthermore, this is a great help, taking in account that sometimes internet photos and comments are unreliable.
A relevant comment was about San Telmo, an old neighborhood in Buenos Aires where the urban landscape preserves its colonial style. In that list I made guide comments about restaurants most visited by travelers and their most relevant characteristics, some vintage such as the “Bar El Federal” and “La Popular” restaurant.
Moreover there were other more refined such as San Telmo Shokudo to the delight of lovers of sushi and other Japanese specialties. For those who like a good coffee accompanied with the typical Argentine alfajores, I have recommended the Café Havanna, in the vicinity of the Buenos Aires neighborhood of San Telmo. Following these suggestions, the traveler can enjoy good times in pleasant places, also having a rough idea of the price level of the service. Sharing travel experiences with other people has always been a pleasant activity for me because I am a traveler and these comments complement the invaluable help of the Google Maps application on a journey. This is simply the reason why being a contributor to Google Maps makes me very happy.
