What Local Guides means to me: help, sharing, have fun and a caring and worldwide community

Never before 2017, I thought I could help, share, having fun and meet so many amazing people from so many countries around the world by choosing to sign me up as a Local Guide in 2017.

Adding pictures and reviews for more authentic places
When I signed up and at the beginning of my involvement, I put pictures on Google Maps and saw the evolution of the views. It was really cool to see that my addings to make places more authentic impacted peoples. Sometimes, some owners have been grateful for my reviews. It motivated me and I never stopped.

Power of the community on Local Guide Connect !
I really understood the power of the local guide community by discovering and sharing on Local Guide Connect.
It was crazy for me to get some comments and hearts from other Local Guides and Googlers around the world !

I understood the local guides community also liked to have fun when I had shared my post about my 3 days trip to Porto. With this post, I beaten my personnal record of hearts and comments of all platforms combined (like facebook or instagram) ! From this moment, It was really an awareness that this is where I wanted to continue to share content with real and postives people!

I also found it unbelievable that Googlers were writing comments under my posts, and I realized that our posts could be mentionned by Googlers on their own posts. It’s really motivating to see Google’s direct involvement through the community!

Friendship from all over the world !
At the end of 2019, I was very lucky and I meet Local Guides from 64 countries.
I had the feeling that we were all in the same mind, it was crazy! I didn’t expect anything but I received a lot from everyone and from Google, this experience changed my life.
It’s very difficult to sum it up quickly, but at that moment I understood that I was really part of a global community based on help.

Here a few pics with other Local Guides that I’m very happy that I met
(For reasons of readability of the post, Iimited the number of pictures)
With Shota from Japan ??

With Vandana from India ??

With Paul from Australia ??

With Patricia from Portugal ??

With Raymond from Sweden ?? and Ania from Poland ??

Google 15 year press conference !
Finally, at the beginning of 2020 I had the honor to participate and represent the local guides community in Switzerland ?? for the press conference of Google’s 15th anniversary. Responding to journalists and seeing that the local guides would be even more visible in Switzerland was really exciting!

My experience has convinced some of my friends and entourage. Since then, some of them have also become local guides and regularly note the places!

What’s next?
I’m organizing my first meetup, photo & sorbets at the end of march 20 to bring together other local guides from Switzerland who don’t know the community on Local Guides Connect yet.
I hope to see many europeens Local Guides to the meetup “3rd European Meetup in Munich” ?? organized by my friend @TorM
I will try before end of year 2020 to see my local guides friends @AniaKiser in Poland ?? and @Rayray in Sweden ??

Conclusion.
For me Local Guides program is an opportunity to help and meet people from all over the world with the support of a worldwide and caring community without forget having fun.

@christophesubilia This is very relatable because I also am planning to host my first meet up in Boston, I’m just afraid nobody will show up (LOL I know I will get over it haha!) And I’m happy of how you progressed over time! Good work mate!!

@anyaamorimV I don’t think you need to be scared! Why don’t you ask some friends to come with you! Most of them have certainly a Google account, I guess. By registering for the event they can join the Local Guides program in seconds.
