I think it goes without saying that the very best part of being a Local Guide is meeting other Local guides, so I wanted to add my favorite part (after the people).
In addition to some of the amazing people I’ve met at Connect and other platforms, being active with Google Local Guides has given me a chance to help some of my favorite restaurants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. As a local food writer, I’m often one of the first people to visit a new place. The more I post, the more I realize it’s so important for businesses to have images that potential customers can see before visiting. In fact, I’m still perpetually amazed by how fast some of my photos can track.
Not that I obsessively check my statistics every day (am I the only one who does this??!), but it’s a bit of a thrill to watch a photo take off. To me, it means that I’ve taken a photo that resonates with potential guests (which I hope translates to business for the restaurants I love). Sometimes it’s a dish, other times it’s an interior shot, but I think it’s an imperative part of what I do.
Hello helloo @cbrandtwright . It’s nice that you love the connections through meeting other Local Guides. You definitely are a gregarious personality and that’s great! Well done on getting the restaurants noticed and more discoverable. Wishing you the best of luck in your application. Cheers.
Exploring restaurants is probably also my top 3, after the people at #1 of course . Great post, @cbrandtwright - as someone who has sat next to you and have watched you take a photo of a meal, make it magic, and even add a bit more magic before posting it, I am not surprised your numbers take off. Your photos and style of photography is incredible.
Aww - cheers!! I hope you and your family are keeping well. I’m already trying to decide the first restaurant I’ll visit once things go back to normal!
