What Local Guides means to me: Exploring Hong Kong and the world

I have been using Google Maps for more than 7 years. I used to explore the world with Google Maps when I am preparing for trips, i.e. read place reviews, save place lists, find restaurants, see photos. I always curious why people loves to share a lot on Google Maps. Once I discovered Local Guide and found that it is a funny and meaningful community. I can meet friends from local, different countries, get to know different cultures.

Living in Hong Kong for more than 20 years, I found that I still haven’t been to many of the places until I bought my first car in my life. I now always explore Hong Kong countryside with this BMW 320i.

I used to star those places I have been to want to go places to the list

I always share photos on Google Maps while travelling and the results always amazed me. I got 5,000 views in few months for this photo (a famous Taiwan Cake Shop”).

I have already got 50,000 views for my photos and review. I found that photos always more attractive than word reviews (people are lazy maybe).

I love meeting new friends especially from other countries as we can know each other’s cultures and the live in the other side of this planet. If you planned or going to visit Hong Kong, you can let me know and maybe I can give you some advice.

Hi @jiminy501 :

Thank you for sharing your experiences as a Local Guide in Hong Kong! What I love about Hong Kong is the food and dim sum when I go yum cha there!! 蝦餃 is my favourite and this photo below is from one of my favourite dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong.

There are a handful of Local Guides in Hong Kong including @TonyChu and I know they can be quite active. Have you had a chance to meet with them?
