Back to the topic,
After joining with Google Local Guide program, It helped me a lot to make my job easier. I am self-employed in the tourism industry in Sri Lanka. My main job is to drive around the country with tourists from all over the world. I have traveled to some places more than 100 times. Sometimes it felt like a monotonous life, sometimes it is not easy to drive 10-12 hours per day, but after being a google local guide, it became one of my hobbies. Whenever I go to a new or old place like Local Attractions, Restaurants, I used to check the google maps to check whether that place exists. If not, I add them to the map; if it is there, I used to add a review with some photos.
So actually this changed my job and lifestyle. I have educated a lot of little business owners about google maps and google my business and how it can help them to develop the business. I am a bit famous among my community for internet-related works. I usually receive several calls per month from some hotels, restaurant owners asking the problems about map location corrections, about negative reviews, non-related photos added by some clients, .etc. And also, I had to become an IT supporter for some places. Even today, I am managing the google business profiles of some famous places in my area. So I help them with the knowledge I got during the past few years.
Pharo Lake hotel is an example.
Now so many people get the direction using google maps, and it receives more than 10,000 visits per month through google maps.
After knowing @AnuradhaP , One of famous and Active Local google guide in Sri Lanka. I could learn so many things about this program, and I could get a piece of better knowledge, and I could join with several meetups organized by him, and also I met some new good friends through the program.Below photo took at special meet up in a Hot Air Baloon organized by @AnuradhaP . It gave an added value to my hobby, and because of @AnuradhaP , I got a chance to Contribute to Google Video.
