What Local Guides means to me: discover new, giving back, and Connecting Peoples

The Local Guides program has had a significant impact on my life since I got involved two years ago. To me, being a Local Guide means discover new, giving back, and connecting people.

Discover New:

Through my involvement in the Local Guides program, I’ve made many friends from around the country like Karachi, Peshawer, Quetta, Hunza, Peshawer, and Islamabad. I’ve also made many friends from around the world like China, USA, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, to name just a few. I’ve never been a part of something so global before.

Through the friends I’ve made, I’ve learned so much about culture and diversity. Since I’ve only ever traveled domestically, I have a lot I can learn from others. Local Guides have introduced me to their customs and favorite places. I’m always ready to discover new in my life.

Ultimately, this program thought me many things about many places, I’ve learn a lot from others and discover many places.

Giving Back:

The fact that I am able to add several places as a local guide on google has been my major hit because through this I’ve been able to learn more about my culture here in Pakistan and also meet with different people of different tribes from different location.

I also love the friendly competition I get from being a Local Guide. The monthly email gives exciting information about how many people I’ve helped, and if a place I’ve been with a friend is highlighted, I love to forward the email to show them the specific difference my contributions are making.

I love how being a Local Guide allows me to connect with peoples. Specifically, I’ve been able to help small business owners by adding their locations to the maps, and I’m able to help their potential customers by leaving reviews to help guide their decisions. One of my most helpful reviews is for (National Bank of Pakistan), and it’s location that it’s been so helpful. I think it may be because of the explanation I gave about this location.

Connecting People:

Firstly, I’d like to say a very big thanks to google for such a platform as this and making it open to everyone not minding your location around the world. Apart from just posting as a local guide, being a local guide as also helped me connect with different people around me.

I started off as a local guide just last year and now I’m on level 6 and still pushing.

This few months spent as a local guide here in Pakistan, I have learnt alot of things and it has also helped me visited places that I never ever would have dreamt of visiting. Through my involvement in the Local Guides program, I’ve made friends from around here in Pakistan.

Sometimes, my friend Ubaid Aslam and I will compare our photo and review views for places we visited and reviewed together. Usually, when it comes down to the numbers, I win! I always encourage him to give more details in his reviews to help him. We talk about keeping our “want to go” lists fresh as we learn about new places.

I am so glad because this is my first time ever of being part of something as local guide.
