Bangladesh, the country of my residence, is a small country sharing borders with India and Myanmar. It is one of the most densely populated places in the world. The diverse population is making Bangladesh a popular photo tourism place. I being a photographer is watching the steady growth of foreign (and also local) photographers/tourists visiting/traveling around the country for the last few years. As people here are friendly while being photographed. There are tons of unexploited locations yet to be discovered by photographers and enthusiasts.
With all the goods being said, now at present, when the world is threatened by an epidemic of Coronavirus outbreak and Bangladesh is also not out of danger. Actually being heavily populated, it is more probable that the epidemic could affect Bangladesh to a much higher degree than any others. Now comes the questions - How a Local Guide can help?
Creating Awareness being a Local Guide -
- Write about measurements that could stop spreading the virus i.e. washing hands properly, avoid visiting crowded places, drinking warm water, taking a shower properly, etc.
- Sharing correct information.
- Identifying most affected regions of the country.
- Debunking rumors regarding the issue with facts.
- Creating online groups/forums to share knowledge.
- Create a local volunteer group to help if needed.
- Create a virtual help desk for people who has questions.
- Create virtual meet-ups and discussions.
- Prepare yourself with knowledge and information first.
In a country like Bangladesh, it is important to be socially aware and spread the words of awareness where the Government and authority do not have enough means to help. Every individual who is able, should step out from their position and join forces to reach out as far as possible. By using the strength of social media we can make the world a much safer place if we all can CONNECT. The power of a group of people with positivity is way stronger than an individual.
