I am Rahul Kumar and currently, a Level 7 active Local Guide from India. The Local Guides program has brought a great transformation in me since I joined the program 3 years back. The Local Guides program by Google Maps is unique in itself. Trust me!
I never did much photography before. After I signed up for this awesome program by Google, I was stupefied as this seemed to be much like a competition before as the individual who gets more points climbs a level higher and gains more views to his shots. This amazed me!.
I started clicking shots from day one and planned trips to as many scenic sites with my family and friends. Each vacation I had a planned trip beforehand. This made me an adventurer and a photographer too. Thanks, #GoogleMaps for letting me realize the inner me.
Through the Local Guides program, I made plenty of friends from countries like the United States, Australia, Nigeria, Germany, Japan, Syria, etc. This program helped me gain intercultural awareness and gave me a platform to become globally competent. I love helping others and explore places that have top reviews in the Google Maps and eventually share my experiences with others through the Google Maps and Connect platform.
My involvement in being a Local Guide is pretty much breathtaking. I had accumulated great evergreen memories from this program. The realization when I get on scoring points for adding new snapshots of a particular place makes me mesmerized and lets me feel that I am serving the community at a global level.
The monthly email by the Google Maps team about how many people I’ve assisted, my recent uploaded photo views, recent reviews, approved edits, makes me exhilarated and keeps pushing my limits to excel more in the future. Again thanks to the Google Maps team for instilling confidence in me.
I am an avid Google Maps user. I always use this app for commuting whenever I plan to visit a new destination. I solely rely on the reviews and ratings provided by the app, as I am quite confident that we as a Local Guide constantly indulge to make it better each day. Local Guides Program indeed made me a responsible individual as because my reviews and photos are practically helping others decide whether to schedule a new trip on the calendar list. So eventually a visit to a location solely relies on the Local Guides. Our reviews, photos do matter to a great extent and am quite proud to be a Local Guide.
