What Local Guides means to me: adventure and fulfilment

“… to travel is to live…” ----Hans Christian Andersen

As in the words of Hans Christian Andersen, travelling has awarded me the opportunity to live and to do it fully. I believe one can learn a lot about a people by living with and among them.

I was born and raised in Zambia, it being a multicultural and multilingual country, this fuelled my wanderlust and drive to be a part of something larger than myself and prompted to explore this diverse cultural frontier. I became a local guide without actually knowing it. I had just visited one of the many places on my travel list and received a notification on my phone from Google Maps asking how my experience was at that place, I then posted a few comments and photos of the place and have since been doing this every so often after visiting a new place.

Becoming a local guide has afforded me the opportunity to enable others that share a similar passion for travel/experiences and wanderlust as I do, to access satisfactory standards of accommodation, entertainment, food etc, right at the click of a finger  , thereby improving the quality of their travel experience. It also gives me the sense of fulfilment as I get rewarded with points.

Besides having a great time, it feels great to post and share with others my experience and opinion on the places I visit, as well as the quality of service I receive and by doing so, give others an insight on what to expect as they plan their trips and events.
