The Local Guides program initially was what I did for fun and to help people around the world know more about the ancient city of Ibadan where I live. The city is one of the largest in Nigeria and boasts a wealth of sites needing exploration. So many businesses are hidden like gems needing discovery within her belly.
However, over time I realized my contributions is making a whole lot of positive difference by the feedback system of the program.
I love especially when I have to visit queried locations for user-specific answers and love it knowing somebody somewhere is helped. I try to pinpoint those areas most helpful to visitors especially in the area of security and financials.
One of my most viewed reviews is of Cocoa House Ibadan of over a hundred views, it’s quite exhilarating!
It’s so cool and powerful to be able to add places to Google map thereby stimulating local businesses especially. I live in a developing area and have been adding local businesses like concrete block maker, confectioners and restaurants, however, I have gone deeper by helping one of this businesses register and manage her online presence on Google My Business (https://chops-and-chew-confectionery-services.business.site); I plan even to do more work by engaging this owners to gauge the impact of Google on their businesses. However, local business owners come to me on having presence on Google. It is a world of unlimited resources worth exploring.
